Why would you want to get a soil test? Well for starters it gives you an accurate picture of what condition your lawn is in and then you have a good gauge of what needs to be done to improve it. For instance, you might have too much acidity in your soil which can make it difficult for grass to grow healthily. You can make fixes to your soil by applying substances such as lime to adjust the soils pH levels. It is pretty easy to learn how to perform a soil test. You want to take samples from various parts of your lawn and put it in a container to be taken to a lab.
